SERVERPROPERTY is not a recognized function name

I am trying to connect SQL Backup to one of our DB servers, but it fails saying 'SERVERPROPERTY' is not a recognized function name. Is that just because my version of SQLExpress on that server is too old?

    Got it and responded. Dont know which way is better to contact you, but there was no backup job log. This error comes up when I try to connect to the server. So I can't even see the DBs to backup.
