Hi there Aaron N. Cutshall My apology for the delay in coming back to you on this! Regarding your second paragraph, if you’re looking for a way to automatically shorten object names — for example, having the logical name Customer Detail translate to cust_dtl in the physical model, at the moment, that doesn’t appear to be possible, so this might need to be raised as a feature request. I'll proceed with raising this with our development team today. Regarding your question around sub-models, using ‘Subject Areas' may help here. Please refer to our documentation regarding this for both physical and logical models: Logical Model: https://documentation.red-gate.com/rgdm/logical-modeling/model-elements/subject-areas-logical-model Physical model: https://documentation.red-gate.com/rgdm/physical-modeling/physical-model-elements/subject-areas-physical-model / comments

Hi Aaron N. Cutshall Thanks for reaching out to us regarding this, our apology for the delay in coming back to you! There isn’t currently possible to automatically reorganize or rearrange entities based on their relationships, this is a manual process. Regarding generating models, as detailed in our documentation (here), you can generate a physical model from a logical model. However, reverse migration—from physical back to logical—is not supported. I hope this helps. / comments

Hi Bryan, Thank you for your updates on this, my sincere apology for the delay in coming back to you! I'm glad you've been able to resolve this, but I agree there is some further investigation we need to do around why the installer was ‘thrown off’ by a disk drive that no longer exists. I'll pick this up internally with our development team. Regarding SQL Source Control 8 and SSMS 20, is this now working following a reboot? / comments

Hi there Bryan, My apology for the delay in coming back to you on this! Looking at the log file you provided (thank you for that), I can see you're attempting to upgrade from v.7.7.10, is that correct? Regarding the D: drive it is looking for, do you know if that drive existed at the point SQL Source Control was installed, and has since been removed? Could the installation have originally happened from a mapped drive or even a USB drive? Does your current installation of SQL Source Control run/work without any issues? Finally, it may be worth trying the install from the .msi file, instead of using the Redgate installer. This page explains how to do this: https://documentation.red-gate.com/xx/installing/installing-from-the-msi-file#Installingfromthe.msifile-Extract.msifiles / comments

Hi there Bryan, My apology for the delay in coming back to you on this! I don't appear to have received a notification of your last message. Just to check, are you still struggling to install SQL Source Control? If so, are you aware of there being any issues with the D: drive? Another thing to ‘check off’ is if there is an issue with the installer. Could you try installing the latest version of SQL Source Control (v.8.0.3) using this link: https://download.red-gate.com/checkforupdates/SQLSourceControl/SQLSourceControl_8.0.3.21158.exe Additionally, these Microsoft articles may help to get past the error you are seeing: - https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/application-management/msi-installation-error-1603 Finally, if you are continuing to encounter issues, would you be able to share the log file from the installed when you see the error? Hi there Bryan, I'm sorry you're seeing this issue, thanks for reaching out to us! Generally speaking, the Invalid Drive error you are seeing is usually caused by the drive no longer being available. If SQL Source Control was installed on to a drive that is no longer accessible, the installer will encounter the error you are seeing. What version of SSMS are you currently using? / comments

Hi henrik_ffc My apology for the delay in updating you on this. Just to make you aware that our development team are continuing to engage with Microsoft on this. Essentially, they do not support the syntax for "IS [NOT] DISTINCT FROM," which is causing a parse error in SQL Prompt. I will update you again as soon as a fix has been implemented for this by Microsoft. / comments
