Some developers at our office are experiencing exactly the same problem. There are no apparent differences between the configurations of those that are experiencing it and those who aren't, either. / comments

Sorry - should have added those details:  No, if I don't provide a search text the list still remains empty. And I use SSMS 17.8.1 and Source Control 6.2.0.7681. / comments
