Hi there,
You are correct that we do not currently write out the error output to this file. At the moment we do not have any plans to change this behaviour, but perhaps you could add an entry to https://redgate.uservoice.com/forums/147879-sql-data-compare if you feel this is an important change for us to consider.
It should be possible manually to output both Data Compare's output and errors to one file. The top answer at https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1420965/redirect-windows-cmd-stdout-and-stderr-to-a-single-file gives a good example of how this could be done. / comments

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for letting us know about this. Sorry you've run into this problem.
We are currently working on fixing some issues around line endings, so I hope that upcoming versions will work better in this scenario. / comments

Hi Mike,
Yes it ought to be possible to get up-and-running with a SQL Compare Pro license. Could I suggest you get in touch with support@red-gate.com about the best way to do this? / comments

Hi Rogabone,
By default if everything is selected then we will deploy all the only in left rows, update the similar ones to match the left and delete all the destination only rows.
You can change this behavior by selecting/deselecting rows and by choosing to uncheck the deletion of right only rows (for example), but by default we will deploy in such a way as to make the destination table identical to the source after deployment. / comments

Hi Matthew,
Thanks for letting us know, this reproduction is very useful. I have raised a bug in our internal bug tracking system about this.
This issue here appears to only be in the difference viewer view. It seems that the (nonstandard) newline will be deployed correctly despite us showing something misleading in the UI. / comments

Hi Rich,
At the moment we have only released this fix on our "Frequent Updates" channel, but the fix will be on our next default release too.
If you are interested in getting frequent updates releases you can follow the instructions at https://documentation.red-gate.com/display/SC12/Turning+on+Frequent+Updates on how to set this up / comments

Hi Kevin,
Sorry you've run into an issue with this. I couldn't seem to reproduce this by Alt+Tab but if I minimise that dialog box I can see a similar issue. In my case clicking on the Data Compare icon on the task bar seemed to bring the dialog back when Alt+Tab did not but its not clear to me that this is the same issue. In fact its not clear to me that this dialog should be minimizable in the first case.
Out of interest which Operating System are you using? / comments

Hi,
You could look at the script SQL Compare generates in this case to check whether the column is really being deleted then re-added. There can be situations where the UI does not match up lines in this way, but when deploying changes the column get left in place.
You might be interested to know that we are looking into improving the user experience around viewing difference at the moment, so which differences will be deployed may be clearer in the future.

Hi there,
Thanks for your question. I can see why this could be a useful feature but I don't think there is a way to do this using Data Compare at the moment.
You could suggest this feature on Uservoice at https://redgate.uservoice.com/forums/14 ... ta-compare . If the feature gets lots of interest it's more likely we will look at implementing it in the future.

Hi Mats,
Don't worry, you are asking in the right place!
At the moment we don't support merging xml - in this instance the only way to use Data Compare would be to deploy the row, making the target row match the source, or not to deploy that row, and leave the target unchanged.
