Hello tarandhaliwal8,
Thanks for your post and sorry you are having this issue!
Often times CHM files are blocked by the operating system, so you need to go about unblocking them before you can view them properly
To unblock the CHM file:
1. Right-click the file and select Properties.
2. In the General tab, click Unblock
Here are some pictures and documentation on that: http://documentation.red-gate.com/displ ... +CHM+files
I will follow up with you via email in case you have any questions or issues with that!
Warmly,
Andrew Pierce

Hello Happy1001,
Thanks for your post! Hopefully someone who knows of a similar product can help, as there is currently no Red Gate product for this particular use case.
We do have a tool- SQL Prompt, that will help autocomplete and format your code so that you can work quickly and with fewer errors. You can also create and share sql code snippets with the developer community, which can help streamline common queries.
Here is the product Page: http://www.red-gate.com/products/sql-de ... ql-prompt/
Documentation: http://documentation.red-gate.com/displ ... ur+queries
and the Snippet forum: viewforum.php?f=59
I will follow up with you via email in case you have any further questions.
Again, if anyone else has a good program to quickly create a demo databases online and then experiment with queries please post below!
Best Regards,
Andrew Pierce

Adding MS_Description extended properties is a start for documentation (as are comments), but I think that SQL Doc is the best tool for this. SQL Doc documents all of the database level objects such a stored procedures, tables (with their columns) along with the dependencies and full SQL script for any objects you select. Additionally you can configure the elements and objects that you want to exclude and include, and there are 4 formats that you can document into- PDF, DOC, HTML, and CHM (compiled help manual).
Here is the product page: https://www.red-gate.com/products/sql-d ... t/sql-doc/
and the documentation: http://documentation.red-gate.com/displ ... +databases
SQL Doc comes with a 14 day free trial so you can evaluate whether it would fit your needs or not.
Please let me know if that was helpful or if you have any questions or issues!
I will also follow up with you via email if you have any problems with the tool [image]

It seems that this feature has been removed from SQL Doc and I have logged this bug/request as SDOC-1686.
Note that in the documentation itself you can still use Ctrl-F to search through PDF and Word files, CHM has a built in search function, and you can use ctr-f to search through a web page in the Html format.
I will follow up with you via email in case you have any further questions or issues that I can help with.

Hey Bellowman,
Thanks your feature request and sorry for not getting to you sooner!
We really appreciate feature requests and I have logged this as SDOC-1683.
Unfortunately, there is currently no way to change the size within SQL Doc as the tool resizes the picture upon upload.
When you generate into HTML- the CSS outputs it as 100% height and width, but you can manually edit the html files to make it larger. If you wish to modify the picture size in the generated PDF file- the only way to manually edit a PDF file is using Acrobat Pro, or another PDF editor.
I will follow up with you via email to resolve any further questions or issues.
Thanks for posting and for the great suggestion!

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your post!
We can change some settings- the full list of what can be ignored is in the documentation here http://documentation.red-gate.com/displ ... ct+options
Also you can set the Transaction Isolation Level when doing the deployment- by default it is Serializable [image]
Please let me know if that is helpful!
I have also followed up with you via email to resolve any issues.

Hey Elliot,
Sorry for not catching your forum posts!
I will post the solution we have been working on via email here (for other users to see).
Source Control (and Compare) uses the "Ignore database and server names in Synonyms" option by default. So any Synonym committed to the repository will not take the database and server name with it.
This allows multiple users in multiple environments to have different db/server names set up for their Synonyms.
You can check out the Source Control Comparison Options for more info or go to our documentation here http://documentation.red-gate.com/display/SC11/Setting+project+options [image]
It has been great working with you! / comments

Hi Elliot,
Thanks for contacting us and sorry you are having this issue!
The best way to do this would be to create Synonyms for all of the linked servers, and have that across environments. There is an option in SQL Compare that ignores database and server names in synonyms, which would allow you to painlessly deploy across environments. http://documentation.red-gate.com/displ ... ct+options
I have followed up with you via email to resolve this.

Hi David,
Thanks for your post and sorry you are having this issue!
I have replicated this and it seems to only be a problem when using a project file in the command line. If you specify all of the instance information and options in the command line then the XML file will contain all of the relevant information. This has been reported to the developers for triaging.
I have followed up with you via email to make sure you have a viable workaround.
