Well, it isn't that I don't care for SVG. It has been my experience that it just doesn't play well with anything else besides IE/Firefox since it isn't a widely supported format, so it can just be a pain at times to work with. You are right though... SVG is probably the best possibility at the current time. I guess my main problem stems from the difficulty in viewing an SVG formatted document. It would be nice to also have an option to save it as just an image format, like PNG, as well.
It seems like someone would've come up with some sort of XML schema for describing a sequence diagram by now. I could definitely see some advantages in being able to actually modify the resulting output file in a format that isn't image/vector based. Shrug. / comments
