Thanks; for me the problem wasn't DevExpress. I just got around the problem with the help of Red Gate support, and the problem was that My Documents was set to P: (no backslash). When I right click My Documents and change the path to P:\ then I am able to get into SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare. / comments

Crash on startup for new install (6.2)
I can't run SQL Compare 6.2 or SQL Data Compare 6.0 - brand new install. Attempting to start either program crashes it with a "TypeInitializationException". Please help!
This is on version 5.3.0.68.
Steps:
- Edit an existing comparison project
- Set one or more custom comparison keys
- Compare Now
- Close the comparison project
- Edit the comparison project again
- Go to Tables & Views tab
The tables and views are automatically refreshed. After the grid refreshes, the custom comparison keys now say "Not Set"
Alternate steps:
- Edit an existing comparison project
- Set one or more custom comparison keys
- Compare Now
- Press the "Edit Project..." button
- Go to Tables & Views tab. At this point the custom keys are still there.
- Press the Refresh button on the Tables & Views tab
After the grid refreshes, the custom comparison keys now say "Not Set" / comments

2nd custom comparison key feature request
Every time I refresh the "Tables & Views" tab, all the custom comparison keys I set up are cleared... !! I have to manually write up a list of which ones to set up again before I refresh (because ...
I am doing this again on an even larger number of "could not compare" tables with many columns. I found that you can highlight multiple columns, and not click the checkbox, but instead press space they will all select at once. This workaround will save me some time and aggravation, but I still would like to see the changes I mentioned above to streamline the process.
EDIT: You can even click one of the rows, (don't click the checkbox) press Ctrl A for select all, then space. to make this repetetive manual workaround process go fastest. / comments

I post this only because I just had to set these custom comparison keys up on a database with 22 tables that "could not be compared" with an average of 20-66 columns on each table...
