Do you have SQL Compare installed on your machine? If so could you create a comparison using the database that you're having trouble connecting to? Could you firstly use the 'sa' password to connect to the database and try the comparison? Does this work? If it does could you try changing it to your sysadmin user and recomparing?
Do you get the same error as given in SQL Prompt?
If you don't have SQL Compare installed you can download a 14 day trial from www.red-gate.com
Let me know how it goes. / comments

The way that I would suggest would be to reinstall SQL Prompt. We need to re-integrate SQL Prompt with SSMS and the quickest and easiest way is just to reinstall the software. / comments

I think that this could be due to a limitation with SQL Server and linked servers. We use a distributed transaction and if you're using SQL Server 2005 it can be very strict about what it allows. The following forum post explains a little more. http://www.red-gate.com/messageboard/vi ... php?t=1850 / comments

I'm not very familiar with MSCRM. Do you need to do everything through the adapter so that the right changes are made to other parts of the CRM system? If everything has to go through the adapter then I can't see a way of utilizing SQL compare/SQL Data Compare. We'd have to add the functionality to the applications to support this. / comments
