Hi,
Unfortunately ANTS Profiler relies on high performance timers to get accurate results. In virtual machines these high performance timers are a little less than reliable - our experience has shown that the relative timings of the lines should be fine but the absolute values shown can be off.
We are looking for ways to improve the presentation of the results when this happens in future versions.
Sorry you have it these problems, if I can be of any further help please let me know

Hi,
We are currently in the planning phase for a new version of ANTS Profiler and allowing for the differences in CPU and Wall clock time to be accounted for is high on our list of priorities so watch this space!
Thanks,

Hi there,
Our server will detect that the machine is the same and not count it as an extra activation.

Hi Sidrah,
Sorry about this - there is a bug in our licensing client which can "leak" the edition of the software being activated to other products using the same serial key.
To fix this you need to reactivate ANTS profiler - Click Help -> About ANTS Profiler... to bring up the about dialog then right click on your serial number and select Enter Serial Number. On the activation dialog just keep clicking next and then finish and ANTS Profiler should then be in full professional mode (you might need to restart ANTS Profiler).
Sorry you hit this problem,

Hi there,
The reason we don't allow this right now is that the encrypted password would loose all value if you could restore a backup using the encrypted version (If I could access backup job and see the <ENCRYPTEDPASSWORD> I could restore the database wherever I wanted to and access the data) - for a restore to happen we require that the original secret (the unencrypted password) is provided.
One solution would be to use a different encryption scheme for our restore password and our backup password but this could lead to confusion. I will log a feature request for our product manager and designers to look at for future releases.
Another way that we have looked at is to use SQL Server's security model to protect the password - create a function/database table etc which will return the password (or even the whole backup command) and secure the execution and access rights on that function/database table etc.

Hi,
The full feature comparison for the two editions is here: http://www.red-gate.com/products/SQL_Ba ... arison.htm
I agree that the FAQ is slightly ambigous in this case and will ask for the text to be updated.
If you could drop me an email (james.moore <at> red-gate <dot> com) with your serial key then I will talk to the sales guys about some options for upgrading you to pro.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused,

Just to add to the previous response, when developing SQL Backup 5 we ensured that we were backwards compatible with SQL Backup 4 so you should be able to use the SQL Backup 4.x GUI with SQL Backup 5.
You will loose the ability to create backup jobs with multiple threads to a single file but can monitor as you could with SQL Backup 4.

Toeho,
There is no theoretical limit placed on this by SQL Backup (There may be some from file systems etc), however this sort of error can be caused by intermittent network connectivity loss.
Where there any short term outages during the restore process?
