Version 2 is yours free, forever. Come Septemeber, we aim to have version 3 available which will not be free.
Hope that helps.

Hi Aaron,
Which particular aspect of the comparison projects do you find a headache? I'd like to better understand your issue so that in the furute we may be able to do something about it, or offer out some kind of workaround.
Thanks and regards,

Hi Tsoren,
These are both great suggestions, and ones that we had considered for SQL Compare during development. Unfortunately, in the run-up to releasing the product we had to sacrifice a few features, and both of these met that fate. That said, they're still in the melting pot for any future releases.
Thanks and regards,

Hi Olaf,
As it currently stands it is not possible to flatten the view of objects or left justify the list of object names. We will consider both of these points for future releases as they have been raised before.
Thanks and regards,

Hi Ben,
If you right click one of your projects in the list, you can choose "Locate on disk..." That will give you access to the project file that you can share with your colleagues. They will need to drop it into the same location on their computers for SQL Compare to see it.
Projects can save people a lot of time, but we found that they were rarely being used - with most people just creating a new comparison each time. The effort of saving a project, giving it a meaningful name and specifying a location is more than the effort needed to start anew each time. The new approach should ensure that more of our users will take advantage of them, whilst still allowing them access to the underlying files.
Hope that helps. [image]

Hmm...
We'll need to have a think about this. The intention was to encourage people to use projects as we found that a great many people we spoke to, never took advantage of the time they could save. We wanted to give flexibility in being able to set different options for different projects, and if you had a configured project, you could always duplicate it with the clone button.
Once you'd set up a project, you could still change your data sources if need be (as before) but that you were working with your own set of options.
It was expected that the user would then swap between a few projects they've configured and always work with those, even if they frequently changed the data sources within that project. If you're finding that you create a new project for every single comparison, then yes, I could see how the defaults could be troublesome.
But this has to be taken into context of the limitations of the old projects. There's plenty of time taken saving projects with meaningful names, having to open and save to locations on your machine and the lack of flexibility in only having one set of options at any one time.
I hope that goes someway to explain the reasoning behind them. The new way does require a slight rethink in how you work with projects and options, but it can give you greater flexibility and save some time.

Is it possible you could give us an idea of which option defaults don't match what you typically need?
We had hoped that the defaults that we ship with the product are what most users typically need. If there are a few that aren't set sensibly, we should be able to get these changed for later maintenance releases, or at worst, allow for some way for the user to overide them. [image]
Thanks !

Whilst the functionality isn't availble by constructing a query, it is possible to do what you want with Dependency Tracker... I think.
For example, your second scenario, you could selectively add just those three tables and all views. On the diagram, if there's any relationship they'll be shown.
Hope I've understood what you are tyring to do, but I do ocassionally drink lead paint so I may have got the wrong end of the stick... [image]
