Eddie,
I have been on vacation for the past week and not able to reply.
1- The problem occurs if restoring to the same server or a different server. The account has permissions to the share. We can browse to the share using Windows Explorer when logged in with the account used by the SQL Backup Agent. SQL Backup can restore from the device. It just cannot browse to the folders and files.
2- We connect to the server using Windows Authentication. I have not tested using SQL authentication.
3- We use Windows authentication for the SQL Backup Agent Service.
4- We can connect to the device using the add servers button. At least, it shows in the tree but there are no shares listed.
I need to add that this problem occurs in another set of servers in a different domain. The backup device in that domain is not a DD580. It is a Windows Server. We cannot browse shares or folders on that backup server, either.
Thanks for your help.

Eddie,
I don't know what info you need about the DD580. Here is a link to info aboutthe device on the Dat Domain web site. http://www.datadomain.com/newsletter/20 ... ash_2.html
We simply access the device as we would any share on the LAN. Our data center personnel have configured the device. We can browse folders in Windows Explorer and other applications. Thus far, only SQL Backup 5.4 fails to browse the folders.

Same issue here after installing products using Redgate Installer for SQL Toolbelt version 2.0.1.2056. I uninstalled SSMS Integration Pack 1 and SSMS Integration Pack Framework. I installed the integration pack using the latest Toolbelt installer (2.0.1.2105). This solved the problem for me.
Note: the reinstall only installed SSMS Integration Pack 1, not the framework. / comments

Nigel,
Thanks for the update. I'll discuss installing the Hotfix with our team. In the meantime, if the problem occurs again, I will restart the Repository. / comments

Nigel,
Thanks for your reply. I sent the logs in one ZIP file.
I did not try to restart the Alert Repository before reinstallig.
I did not have to activate licenses. They were activated when I connected to the repository.

Thanks for your replies. I know that Red Gate developers and support personnel are very responsive to user needs. Thanks for the help. I may use SQL Backup 4 client when I'm in a hurry. I'll give it a try.
Thanks again. / comments

Peter,
I downloaded and installed the debug version of xp_sqlbackup.dll. The client still displays the same error message.
The debug DLL has a version of 5.0.0.964.
The 5.1 DLL has a version of 5.1.0.2781.
Is the debug version correct. Did I download the right file?

Peter,
The service is started and has been running since installation. Regular backups occur. The only problem is getting the client to work on this server.
