Hi rgrossha,
To confirm this issue should be fixed in 8.0.1 onwards. Apologies for not coming back to this post sooner. / comments

Hi Michael,
Thanks for posting on the Redgate forums.
There isn't any documentation on this feature but it is fairly easy to use. After setting up the Analysis graph from the analysis tab you can copy the URL and send this onto users to view the same graph. This remembers the time/and metric you have chosen.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance with this. / comments

Hi brogers,
From my understanding, this would be the correct behaviour. There is a documentation page on this available here http://documentation.red-gate.com/displ ... +backed+up which also links to a relevant Microsoft article. The transaction log would continue to grow until it can wrap around itself in between log backups.
The log backup is truncating the portion of the log that's just been backed up. However, truncating the log simply marks the log entries for reuse - it doesn't imply that the physical log file will shrink. That would be a separate (manual) step. You would over time see the LDF file stabilize at a set size and continue to loop itself around on a daily basis.
please do let me know if you believe this is not the case. / comments

Hi brogers,
Thanks for posting on the Redgate forums.
I think I will need a bit more detail to get to the bottom of this one.
Can you confirm the backup strategy you have in place? Full/Transaction log/ Differential? Is it the ldf file in SQL which continues to grow or the transaction log backup files you are referring too?
Do all backup jobs in SQL Backup complete without any errors or warnings? / comments

Hi chap Wolffe,
Thanks for posting on the Redgate forums.
The SQL Backup engine is aware when a database is in SIMPLE recovery and won't try to perform a log backup when doing a bulk backup. The following T-SQL will skip out any database in the SIMPLE recovery model.
EXECUTE master..sqlbackup '-SQL "BACKUP LOGS [*] TO DISK = ''C:Backups<AUTO>''"'
The most relevant documentation can be found at the link below. Whilst this doesn't confirm what I have stated here it will give you some further hints on things you may need to think about. http://documentation.red-gate.com/displ ... n+instance / comments

Hi Frank,
Thanks for contacting Redgate support.
I believe the attached article will help in keeping an eye on the log queue https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/sapons ... itoring-i/.
I'm not sure if there is anything specific in the SQL Monitor database that can be used to assist in this case. / comments

Hi bbcolo22,
Turning on Compress Backups within SSMS won't affect SQL Backup at all. Compress backups only have any effect when the backup is taken and so operates outside of SQL Backup.
Having said that if you do get any problems please do let me know. / comments

Hi johnnywyskiel,
Thanks for posting on the Redgate forums.
There isn't a method for setting this within the SQL Monitor UI, however, it should be achievable by editing the user SQL Monitor uses to log in to SQL.
If you remove sysadmin privileges from the user this deny him the right to turn on the Trace 1222 flag. You would then need to apply the rest of the permissions on this page to ensure SQL monitor continues to function correctly. Please let me know if you need any further assistance with this. http://documentation.red-gate.com/displ ... ermissions / comments

HI djsevans87,
Thanks for posting on the Redgate forums.
There are a couple of factors at play in this scenario. Firstly the behaviour of maintenance windows has changed, the documentation below now describes them
During the maintenance window time period, no performance-related or custom alerts are raised or queued and alerting only resumes for these alerts once the specified maintenance window duration has ended. Monitoring continues as normal, so you can still check the health of your servers using the Overview pages and examine performance data using the Analysis page.
This means SQL based alerts will still be raised during the maintenance window.
If you review the Forum post below there is a script you can run to add alert types to be excluded from the maintenance window. viewtopic.php?f=197&t=79319&p=140737&hilit=Maintenance+Window#p140737 / comments
