Hi Uwe - thanks for the message.
We included an early access build of the continuous profiling tool in ANTS Performance Profiler 7.0, but removed it in version 7.2 and later releases. The feedback we got on the early access builds suggested that most users wanted the fuller-featured analysis tools of our desktop-based ANTS Performance Profiler, rather than the limited web UI we implemented with continuous profiling. We're now exploring ways to integrate the continuous profiler into the main ANTS Performance Profiler tool, to try to give users both the flexibility of leaving the profiler "always on" for an ASP.NET site and the analytical power of the main APP UI.
If you were finding continuous profiling useful, we'd love to hear from you: we're trying to understand what use cases it helped with, and how we could better support those with the main tool. If you'd be interested in letting us know more about your experience, please send us an email: APPeap@red-gate.com . / comments

Thanks for the update, and I'm sorry you're still having problems getting file I/O results. How much space is there in the directory you've specified now? If there's definitely more than 3GB, and you definitely have "Record file I/O performance" checked on the Application Settings dialog when you start profiling, there may be another bug here. Could I get you to contact support@red-gate.com with details of the application you're trying to profile, and any messages that display above your profiling results when you try to view File I/O data? / comments

Hmm - thanks for the extra information, Chaitu.
What profiling mode are you using? Sampling mode doesn't return any data on database calls - if you use another mode, you should see SQL call results.
You also wouldn't see database call profiling results if you're using the Standard edition of ANTS Performance Profiler - SQL call profiling is available only in Pro edition.
If you're using Pro and a non-sampling mode, can you tell us any more about the API your application uses to make SQL calls? It's possible it's one we aren't yet instrumenting. / comments

Thanks for the update - it sounds like the figures in the Knowledge Base article you found may be wrong. I can update them, but first I'd like to confirm that there's no other bug here.
Were you able to try the latest version (7.2) and let me know whether you still hit this problem there? You can upgrade from within the Profiler via Help > Check for Updates, or download the latest version from http://www.red-gate.com/products/dotnet ... -profiler/ . The upgrade is free for users of 7.0. / comments

Hi technocrat - sorry to hear you're having trouble with ANTS Performance Profiler.
Are you using the latest version of the profiler (7.2)? It no longer uses event tracing for SQL profiling, so you should be able to get SQL call data with this version.
You may need as much as 4GB in the %TMP% directory to enable tracing for File I/O, so just having more than 1GB available may not be enough. You say the link does not contain the proper steps to change the temp directory - does the following command work instead?
SET RGTEMP=d:\temp

OK, we think we've fixed this in our latest nightly build: you can download a free 14-day trial of the new build from http://help.red-gate.com/help/ANTSPerfo ... d_eap.html . Does the problem still occur for you with this build?
Assuming the fix works, we should be able to roll it out in the 7.3 release. / comments

You make a good point about how we expose these features to users of Standard edition - thank you; we'll take these into consideration.
I'm sorry to hear you're having these problems if you have a valid .NET developer bundle license. Could I ask you to contact sales@red-gate.com with details of your license, so they can check whether there's a problem with the activation? / comments
