Hi Tobin,
Getting better at showing real-time activity is something the development team is looking into right now. We'd like to understand a bit more about some of the points you raise - if you'd be willing to have a short call with us, we'd appreciate your input.
Thanks,

We've just added a link to the About page in SQL Monitor, so you will be able to go there and get the latest frequent release. Hopefully this will prove useful if you've dismissed the reminder etc.
This should be in the next release... / comments

Hi,
Do you mean you are receiving 'Database unavailable' alerts for offline databases and would like to stop them?
You can stop receiving Database unavailable alerts for specific databases with the following steps:
Go to Configuration and then Alert settings
Select a specific server in the left hand Monitored servers tree
Expand the Database unavailable alert type and select the checkboxes for the relevant databases
Click the Configure Alerts button
Select the radio button 'Don't raise Database unavailable alerts on this level and all levels below'
Apply changes
I hope that helps?
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion - we're just working on this, and the ability to expand to full screen should hopefully be in the next release. / comments

The data from that sampler is used to used to generate the Blocking Query and Long Running Query alerts. It is also used to populate the "SQL User Processes (Top 10 by CPU)" panel in the server overview page.
You could disable this sampler via the XML config file or using the "ConfigurationFileEditor.exe" but you would then no longer get those particular alerts.
We are looking at improving this sampler to be more predictable about the % of the overall repository database it consumes, and to make it show more useful information about blocking processes and SQL user processes in the server overview.
I hope that answers your question, but let me know if you need any further information. / comments

Good point - SQL Monitor may only check for updates once a week, at which point an information bar should appear.

We’ve just released v7.1.3 of SQL Monitor - this should be available from Check for Updates.
It would be great if you could confirm this fixes the issue for you when you get a chance to update. / comments

Thanks for prompting us again on this. We do agree this is something we should improve and we'll try to bring this work forward. I can't say just yet when we might commit to this, but I will post an update soon when we've had the relevant discussions.
Thanks for your patience.

Hi Karl,
The individual server overviews show the top 10 queries, and these can be sorted by different criteria such as Execution count, CPU Time, Logical reads etc. A new table is generated according to the selected option, so different queries are likely to be displayed.
To look at the worst performing queries across an estate, the reports are used, and these currently only show the top 5. However, this is something we're looking into. I'm interested to know a bit more about how you would use this:
- how many queries would you typically want to see across your estate (for example, are there cases where the 50th worst query is something you would take a look at, or is it more likely fewer)
- what do you do with the 'Top x queries' list? Do you have a process of working through them? Is it for troubleshooting, or to head off problems?
Any further detail you have on this would be really useful as we consider where to focus our efforts.
Thanks
