We found out what was the issue, our IPS was blocking the traffic going through via WMI. So just remember even when you allow the traffic on your firewalls that something else may think it is not a good idea.

It sounds like you've pretty much tried everything. Let's hope that Microsoft can shed some light on the issue.

Hi Adam
Apologies for this. I've looked into this error and the vast majority of online advice suggests that it's either a firewall or DNS issue.
It doesn't look like you've missed any ports on your firewall so it might be worth trying with ip addresses rather than the server names if you haven't already. I realise that with 90 servers this would only be a short-term solution but I believe it would confirm a DNS issue if there is one.
Also the page where I found this suggestion is full of useful WMI information - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libr ... 92772.aspx
Please let us know if this helps.

Hi Chris
This is a known issue (ref: SRP-6981). Obviously IE10 is something that we will be supporting but we've just not been able to do this work yet.
The workaround for now is to use another browser (Chrome, Firefox etc) or put IE10 into compatibility mode. To do this, in IE10 hit F12 and then Alt+9 (to change 'Document Mode: Standards' to 'Document Mode: IE9 standards').

If you've set the application pool that the SQL Monitor website uses to .NET v2.0 already then it's worth checking that asp.net is fully installed on the machine. My google returned some useful links which all seem to suggest that you need to run aspnet_regiis. The following page shows the command but it needs to be run in the v2.0 folder rather than v4.0 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6846 ... managedpip
So - "%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i"

The way to do this in SQL Monitor isn't very intuitive sorry.
If you select all the alerts on a single page then a green banner should appear with a "Select all alerts across all pages" link. Clicking this link and then the Clear button should clear the lot.

Hi Mark
Yes you should definitely be getting an alert if the server becomes unreachable for some reason.
I'm assuming that SQL Monitor's data repository is not located on the server that went offline?
Also which version of SQL Monitor are you currently using?

Yes the configuration settings are stored in the database (using the 'settings' schema). As long as you select the existing database during the base monitor install (the 'Set up data repository' step) then you shouldn't notice any differences.
