Okay. I chose "Yes" on the error prompt and when SSMS opened the "SQL Prompt 4" menu was gone and "SQL Prompt 5" had appeared. On restarting SSMS I don't get the error message. SQL Prompt 5 is now working.
So, to install the beta - not only must you uninstall SQL Prompt 4 via Control Panel, but you must say "Yes" to the error prompt that appears when you run SSMS. / comments

And me too. SSMS 2008 SP1 on Windows XP SP3 x86. Uninstalled version 4 prior to installing 5.0.0.224. When I run SQL Management Studio I get:
