Hi,
If you look at the preliminary help, under the "Configuring SQL Prompt" topic, then the "Managing Aliases" item, you'll see that the "Alias Assignment" section shows a pair of radio buttons for On/Off and a checkbox subordinate to the "On" button, labelled "Include AS in alias definition". I'd add a snapshot if I could Sad
Build 819's dialog has the same On/Off radio buttons but there are now THREE subordinate checkboxes, as you kindly detailed in your response. Hopefully the Help file will get your prose for Production Release.
Yes, sorry, we will update the help file for the final release.
Thanks for explaining the new options. May I suggest that you add a FOURTH option, "Learn NEW alaises as I type". Your explanation includes the common scenario where a table is featured multiple times in the same script with different aliases (self-joins must do this); I wouldn't want my regular alias to be overridden in these cases, but, where I've added a table to my schema and not added it to my User-defined list, I'd like SQL Prompt's smarts to add the table and first alias I use for it to my list.
I'm not totally sure what you mean here. Could you expand a bit, please.

Hi,
Uninstalled and Reinstalled and build# is now 819 - Thanks.
The EngineOptions.xml file was wiped when I restarted SSMS, so all my 130+ User-defined aliases went west...
I'll have to hack the file by hand I guess...
Any chance you could IMPROVE the Installer for future releases so that it preserves at least this section...
I've added it to our list.

Hi David,
I'm afraid there is no such option. You can however press Ctrl + Left Arrow to switch to the snippets list.

Hi,
Another complaint. I am in a comment block trying to comment my code. I enter the word "to" and it is forced to upper case. So now I not only have a candidate list that I am forever having to hit escape to close, pops up almost always, has everything in the DB and not just the columns in my query, I also have it casing my comments.
Please see here for a discussion regarding comments http://www.red-gate.com/messageboard/vi ... php?t=3923
We will try to fix this for the final release.
I know I can turn it off and manually trigger the product, but just going back to prompt 2 is easier to live with. This might now be a good tool for someone that does not know SQL. But for me it is now more effort to use the product than to live without it. Sales will be getting a call to refund this license.
Sorry to hear this. SQL Prompt 3 is still in beta, however. We will continue to improve the product, so maybe a future version will meet your needs better.

Sorry, I still can't get it. Could it be that you made some changes to your schema and forgot to refresh the cache?

Hi Steve,
Thanks for reporting this. I wasn't able to reproduce the problem in the latest version of the product, so let's hope it has been fixed already.

Hi,
I've added an issue to our system, now. You haven't got our SQL Refector installed by any chance? If so, are you getting the same problem?
Cheers,
