Hi Brien ,
It is possible to map column names in SQL Data Compare if you need to migrate the data easily.
However, this is not possible in SQL Compare, we may consider it for a future release, but no promises.

Hi Johan,
Whilst SQL Differences panel will still highlight the [customer_nr] column as a difference, it is the other differences in the table (the different constraints and column for example) that are causing its status to be Different rather than Identical.
I understand that this is confusing and frustrating as it leads to false positives when viewing the SQL Differences panel. I have raised this issue with the developer concerned and we will look into this for future releases.

Hi Johan,
Could you double check that the option in the Project Configuration > More Options dialog called "Force column order" is disabled?
If you are still getting a difference is it possible for you to post the schema of the two tables concerned so that we can take a closer look at the problem?

Hi there,
Sorry about your problems. Just a few quick questions. Could you please double check that it is not something like a difference in the nullablity of the identity column that is causing the problem?
Is it possible for your to post an example script of the SQL 7 and SQL 2005 tables? This might help us get the bottom of the problem quicker.
Many thanks,

Hi there,
I have run SQL Compare 5.1 over the tables above. However, I cannot get the tables to report as different.
Whilst SQL Differences panel will still highlight the identity as a difference, it is not considered when determining the status for an object (Different, Identical, Only in db 1 or db 2).
Is this the full syntax for the table or are there constraints, indexes, permissions etc on the table too? As these may be causing other differences that force SQL Compare to say this object is different.
Hope this makes sense.

Sandu,
Sorry, clearly I didn't have enough coffee this morning. Yes this looks like an issue. I will raise it with the developers, but at the moment I cannot give any time scales as to when it will be fixed by.
Many thanks and sorry for the misunderstanding.

Hi there,
We have tried to reproduce this in house with your script using SQL 2000 and SQL 2005, however as you can see below. The revoke insert and update statements actually make it into the script. Can I ask what version of SQL Compare you are using? And what options you have set up? [image]

Hi Philippe,
Is it possible for you explain the issue further, for example could you give us a step by step guide to how to create the bug, or is it possible for you to supply us with the assembly that was causing the problem? This way we can get to the bottom of this issue.

Hi there,
I take it that this error is occuring right at the start of the application, rather than part way through a comparison?
Can you tell me what version of the SQL Bundle you have installed, the version history in the help file should have the details if you cannot start any of the SQL Bundle tools.
Also may I ask which version of .NET you are running? The folders in C:\winnt\Microsoft.NET\Framework should give the you exact build numbers.
Can you check the event log for any SQL Bundle tools error and cut and paste any errors there into the forum too please?
Have you installed any new applications recently?
