Eddie,
Will this patch become the new 6.2 download version when you run Check for Upgrades? If not I suppose it will be included in 6.3.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply Eddie. Any ideas when 6.3 might appear?

One further question Eddie. We have decided to give our V 6 backups the filetype of sq6 rather than sqb so we know it was a V 6 backup or a V 5 backup. Will 6.2.1000.0 be able to delete sqb files when we have set our backups to write sq6 files?
Thanks

Look at this previous post

Linda,
I'm glad that you will look at the deleting of partial backups caused by disk full failures.
Can I get an answer to my real question about the DISKRETRIES option when the backup fills up the disk before it finishes. Will the default 10 retries keep trying to backup even though there is no disk space?
Thanks

I am assuming that you are running SQL2005 or SQL2008 not SQL2000.
Remember that a full backup does not flush the transaction log and I believe the same would be true of a differential backup.
Unless your database is in the simple recovery model your log must be increasing in size without the log backup.
To restore a database you need the last full followed by the last differential followed by the log backups run after the differential.

Hi,
I just upgrade a 64_bit cluser from 6.3 to 6.4. if I look in the Cluster Admin, right click 'SQLBackupAgent' amd select properties I can see 4 entries inder the Registry replication tab. 2 are for Software\WOW6432Node\Red Gate and the other 2 are Software\Red Gate.
Which ones should I remove?
Thanks
Chris
We are seeing the Event 1080 in some 64_bit clusters but not all of ours. / comments

David,
Usually you want to delete backup files of the same type as you have just created. A solution that I use quite a lot is to have the job have a Raiserror step. The error number has to be greater than 50000 and it needs to have @with_log = 'TRUE' so it writes to the event viewer log. Then an alert can pick up the error number and that fires another job that does what you want to do, in this case start deleting log backups.
