Hi,
Thank you for your post to the forum.
We are currently investigating an issue with x64 Servers and Decrypting Encrypted objects. It seems that you are encountering this.
To make SQL Compare 7.1 complete the comparison you can turn off the Decrypt encrypted objects in SQL 2005 and 2008 databases option.
Unfortunately though your encrypted objects will then always show as different.
I apologise you are encountering this issue and will keep this post updated with any developments.
Thanks, / comments

Hi John,
Thank you for the update.
The SQL Backup Agent accounts do not have to be the same name/password. The accounts do however need a matching username/password on the sever that is holding your network share.
I appreciate your suggestion for further versions of SQL Backup.

Hi John,
When you click the Test button SQL Backup is checking the credentials of the SQL Backup Agent Service Log On account.
To check this account, please open Windows Services, scroll down to SQL Backup Agent and select Properties>Log On.
This account will need to be a domain account with permissions to your network share on both the source and destination servers.
To easily find out which server is having the problem, you can use the Back Up wizard and the Copy to network test button.
You may also want to try specifying the IP address of the network share.
I hope this helps. / comments

Hi,
Thank you for your post into the forum, I apologise you are encountering issues with SQL Data Compare.
I am struggling to recreate this, could you please give me more information?
Database A SQL Server version
Database B SQL Server version
Machine running GUI OS version.
Also, is the Data Compare GUI on a workstation or actually on the SQL Server?
Thanks, / comments

Is this happening on only one table/database?
Have you tried using SQL Data Compare from a different machine?
If you could e-mail your table schema and some sample data to support@red-gate.com quoting reference F0015737 that would be useful.
Thanks, / comments

Hi,
Thank you for your post into the forum.
Unfortunately there isn't a way to fix these corrupt transaction log files, so if you do not have a local copy on the source server your database will need to be reseeded.
In your job scripts, you are using the MIRRORFILE option, if you have now resolved your source server space issues I would advise replacing this with COPYTO. You should then have a good transaction log backup file available on your source server if the copied file does get corrupted.
You may wish to use a different program to replace this copying process if you get a lot of logs which become corrupted.
Our CopyTool written by Petey may work for you and is available from Here
I hope this helps, / comments

Hi Gladiatr,
Your understanding of the MIRRORFILE command is correct.
I suggested using COPYTO only if your space issues on your PS Server have been resolved.
I suggested this because getting a corrupt backup when backing up to a local drive is rare, it is generally when copying over a network that problems can be caused.
If you continually have space issues, using MIRRORFILE might be a good option although it is not preventing you from encountering corruption at this point.
Thanks, / comments

Hi,
You would specify the folder/filename as follows : [image] \Backup\<TYPE>\<DATETIME mm-dd-yyyy>
then have the file name format as:

Hi,
Where are the files not being deleted from, the local drive or the network share?
The SQL Backup log files are located by default in :
%allusersprofile%\Application Data\Red Gate\SQL Backup\Log\<instance name>
You can also open Tools>Options in the SQL Backup GUI to check the location. / comments

Sorry for the delayed response.
FILEOPTIONS = 1 should delete both the local copy and the remote copy of the backup files according to the retention period providing the files are for the same Server/Instance/Database/Backup type and the password has not been changed.
Having no FILEOPTIONS or FILEOPTIONS = 1 will delete the local copy of the backups files regardless of the Archive flag being set.
FILEOPTIONS = 2 is used to make sure no backup files are deleted by SQL Backup until they have been archived to a tape drive and the flag removed.
When FILEOPTIONS = 1 is set, are there any error messages in the SQL Backup log files regarding files not being deleted? / comments
