It's definitely something we can consider. How would you envisage this works in the tool? Would you want to automate the synching? Or do you still want to view the differences for each combination beforehand?
Or would you be happy with doing this using the command line? I'd imagine it would be currently possible with this using a cleverly written batch file. Alternatively you could use the SQL Comparison SDK.

Hmmm... nice idea. So effectively all columns that are linked via a FK relationship would have the same description?
I'd be interested to hear from anyone else who would like this behavior. Are there cases where people would want these descriptions to be different?

No problem at all! We're very curious to know how Microsoft plans to migrate its users off VSS to something affordable as I think that many are put off by the complexity of Team System / TFS, as well as its price. Here at Red Gate we recently did the migration to Subversion and we've been very pleased with the results.
Do let us know how you get on.
Kind regards,

Hi Nick,
We haven't ruled out VSS support outright, but it's not an immediate priority for v1.0. We will review this after the initial release, and it will have to be based solely on business grounds.
Visual Source Safe's market share has been steadily diminishing since Microsoft announced its "end-of-life" plans, with support ending in mid 2011. What are your plans beyond this? Microsoft are offering "TFS Basic", which I imagine will be better value than the full version, but I don't know if the pricing has been published. http://blogs.msdn.com/bharry/archive/20 ... users.aspx
Out of interest, which applications do you rely upon that don't have Subversion support?

It's definitely something we hope to do. It's not in the next release, v9.5, but it could follow in the next one.

This is unfortunately how SQL Server scripts it out, and I believe the number of parentheses varies depending on the SQL Server version. As SQL Compare is doing a textual comparison it flags it as a difference / false positive. However the main object comparison grid will not honor these as differences.
We hope to one day add semantic comparison 'intelligence' to the textual viewer.
Kind regards,

Good point. I hadn't really thought about it from that point of view. It might well be worth our while putting the functionality into both tools.

Thanks for the suggestion. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing that many of the errors you refer to are due to "invalid objects" that reference other objects that no longer exist or have been renamed?
The good news is that we are hoping to add a feature to SQL Prompt that will identify such objects, allowing you to fix all the problems in your database in one go.
