Dropping support for Oracle 11g and CSV format in Scripts Folder in our next major release

We are dropping support for Oracle 11g and CSV format in Scripts Folder in the next major release of the following tools:

  • Schema Compare for Oracle
  • Data Compare for Oracle
  • Source Control for Oracle

After this release:

  • You will no longer be able to connect to Oracle 11g databases with these tools.
  • If you are still using CSV files in your Scripts Folder, you can use our utility to update this to the JSON format.

If you're still using Oracle 11g or need CSV files in Scripts Folder support, major versions of these tools can be installed side-by-side. You can continue using version 6 of these tools with Oracle 11g, but we do not guarantee support if any issues arise.

Why are we making this change?
Oracle ended extended support for Oracle 11g at the end of 2020 and our telemetry shows usage is very low. We want to focus on supporting the newer Oracle database versions and additional capabilities like improving how we handle partitions.

JSON has been the default format for Scripts Folder for over two years now.  The JSON format handles different characters in the data better than CSV files do.
