I have the same experience.
Issue seems to be identical to this: This version of SQL Prompt in ADS has expired. Please download the latest version to continue using — Redgate forums.
Though downloading and installing is the the latest version.
Hope the fix will come soon - it is really a great tool -
I am also getting this same expired message with version 2.15. Is there a 2.16 to download @Robyn? I reinstalled 2.15 from vsix and still get the error. Thanks in advance!

When using SQL Prompt, an error message is returned that the version has expired (2.15). There is just no new version to be found, so now we cannot use SQL Prompt for ADS. Can this be looked into?
-
Can we please, please get this fixed? Either remove the timebomb or ensure the next release is timely?
-
Please find a permanent fix for this.
-
Can we get rid of the timebomb please. Last time it took way too long to get a new release after the time bomb.
-
@Robyn please help us

Hi,
I'm afraid this is decision that will be made by the development team. We (support) still do not have an answer from them. If you wish to be updated with further information as to what the future of SQL Prompt in ADS looks like, please raise a support ticket via your customer portal or by emailing support@red-gate.com.
Once a decision has been made it is likely that a post will be pushed to the forums, however, for faster updates customers with open support tickets tend to get quicker responses. -

There is not. We have chased for an ETA today, but currently have been given no timeframe.

1. The way the timebomb is implemented is horrible. It's massively disruptive and there's no warning of up-coming cessation of the feature - not even a countdown or expiration date. Indeed, when the user discovers it, it's because the program just errors out causing us to try to troubleshoot it, only then to discover that the extension expired. This leads to the second issue:
2. Updates do not appear to be timely. If this product is a loss-leader designed to showcase Redgate's benefit to developers and promote sales of much more powerful and feature-packed offers, failing to provide timely releases to those products will have the opposite result. It will cause users who have their work disrupted right in the middle of something important go hunting for an alternative, potentially finding something more to their liking; potentially sticking with it. -
Hi All,
There has been a fix released in SQL Prompt 10.16.5.15563 As part of this release the ADS timebomb has been extended.
In light of Microsoft announcement yesterday, The extension is for 3 months only.
Update the ADS version to 0.2.16. (attached)
I sympathise with your frustrations, I want to reassure you that we are in constant communication with the development team to try to highlight the volume of concerns we have on this matter. -
Thank you so much for the clear communication @Robyn!
-
Thanks @Robyn, version 2.16 installed successfully. Thanks for the prompt responses!

The link to the extension for me is just going to a 404 page on github.

Apologies! My oversight! Attached is the file.

With the MS announcement yesterday can we request that the extension be ported over to VS Code? The 2 systems seem very similar so hopefully it's feasible.
