Log shipping : more selective Retry

I recently attempted to set up log shipping and while the initial backup succeeded, the restore failed (could not get exclusive access to the existing database).

Since the initial backup succeeded, why can't "Retry" in the log shipping wizard resume where it left off, and just try the restore again? When a back up (and copy over the network) can take several hours, I would much rather defer the catch-up work to the log restores than perform a full backup needlessly.
