I was running SSMS v19.3 and started getting the 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' error. I've upgraded to SSMS v20.2 and have the latest SQL Prompt installed but still getting this error when I click on SQL History.

I have been having the same issue as well. I have uninstalled SQL Prompt, reinstalled it and updated all other apps in the essentials package. This has been happening for quite a while now.

Check:-
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Newtonsoft.Json
If there is a version greater than v4.0_11 installed recently then SQL Prompt has issues with this. -
