i should have learnt my lesson by now not to install update unless the current version is causing me a problem.
but i had some pause in my workload so decided to run update of SQL Prompt.
Saw that i could not longer export results to excel - this led me to go to SQL prompt menu - the only items in the menu are the Manage Licence|Check for updates|About SQl Prompt - all the rest of the functionality has dissappeared.
EDIT: panic over - forced to "manage licence" and provoke it to wake up
