Email alert notifications are failing. Configure notifications

I've been getting this error for a few weeks now. Is it possible to get more detailed information from any log files?

    Thank you for sending that over.
     
    This type of error usually indicates an issue with the SMTP server rather than SQL Monitor itself.
    Do you have a telnet/ssh type client available that you can test smtp connectivity outside of Monitor with?
