sql generator getting stuck at loading

while I use sql data generator do the server that host the manipulated DB have to be offline?

Thanks for your inquiry with SQL Data Generator.
While we recommend creating a full backup of the database, it doesn't need to be offline in order to have it be used by SQL Data Generator: https://documentation.red-gate.com/sdg/worked-example-setting-up-the-data-generator
