Thank you for your post.
It may be due to a compatibility issue between the version of SQL Prompt you are using and the version of SSMS you have installed. Which version of SSMS do you have?

Yeah, we figures as much, using SSMS 18.8.
I wonder whether there's a way to upgrade an existing license to a newer version, will try to look it up. -
According to the License info I see on my end, you are entitled to at least version 10 of SQL Prompt.
You can download the different version from the customer portal. If you go the the manage license area to can get the latest versions of the tools there, as well as any of the older versions.

I've been trying to install an older version of prompt (7.5), during the installation process it seems like my SSMS is not recognized. I get a window with grey inactive checkmarks, the "next" button is inactive as well, and written "microsoft visual studio or SQL server management studio is required".
Funny thing is when i accidently installed latest version (10.6) there wasn't any problem.
