How can we help you today? How can we help you today?

The Future of PASS and SQL Saturday is now with Redgate

We wanted to tell you as soon as we could, but for legal reasons we couldn’t until things went public.

Redgate has acquired PASS’ assets, including SQL Saturday. We will endeavor to do all we can to keep our community together, make PASS’ content available to the data community, and support the overall community.

For data privacy reasons, PASS has just emailed its global members to ask them to opt in to continue to hear the latest news about the future of PASS, SQLSaturday, and the data platform community, including updates on community support, training resources, and events.

We’d like to count on your support to spread the word about this announcement (see Redgate’s twitter) and to encourage folks you know in the #sqlfamily community and the data platform community to stay up to date with news on the future of #sqlfamily and SQL Saturday. Folks can opt-in here.

I hope you’ll join us in being excited about this start for 2021 and look forward to Redgate’s future community plans. We welcome your ideas and support, so please join the discussion below!

Cheers,

Eleanor

Although Redgate has now moved away almost completely from the Business Intelligence / Data Analytics side of our industry, I hope very much that side will still be strongly represented in future SQL Saturdays and Virtual Summit 2021!

Please let me know what I can to do help!

Curious about the details here. Will it still be branded "PASS" and "SQL Saturday"?  Or will it now be "PASS by Redgate"?  Or "Redgate PASS"?

Outstanding. Congratulations to those that managed to organise this - I was wondering what would happen to the amazing wealth of data and presentations that SQLPass has.

    This is huge.

I'm sure plenty of you folks haven't slept for days. Must have been a lot of work to make this happen.

I, like I think a lot of folks in the community, am really excited to understand the finer details about the future of PASS and it's relationship with Redgate, as well as it's relationship with other community initiatives, like Data Saturdays.

If Redgate can handle this as well as they handled SqlServerCentral, this is going to be great! But with PASS, Redgate has just jumped into a different league.

I'm super intrigued to see what happens next. For now, congrats on a massive acquisition. :-)

I can remember when Redgate first bought SQLServerCentral there was concern over the future of the site. Those fears proved unfounded.  Several years on  in fact the overarching reaction to Redgate acquiring SQLPass assets are "Thank God"!

Disappointed to see that the first two videos uploaded to the "new" PASStv YouTube channel are both marketing vids.  Not the start I was hoping for.  :-(

Hi @ChrisHyde thanks for this feedback. We're just getting to grips with the content that is within the PASStv library, and haven't yet added any new videos to the channel (both of those videos were already on the channel, just unlisted).
The previous welcome video on the channel was a promotional video for PASS Virtual Summit, so I felt this wasn't current and so i pointed it to something else as a holding video for now.
I'll appreciate what your saying, so will go ahead and search for a more suitable video to use for new/returning visitors to the channel.

Thanks for the quick response, Annabel!  Sorry if I was coming across as too negative in my previous comment.
