Version 7 gives error "Specified cast is not valid", won't open

We installed version 10 and it worked great but found out we only had a licence for version 7. Uninstalled 10 and installed 7 but 7 won't open. We get the error "Specified cast is not valid". Our database is SQL Server 2014.

    The SQL Backup GUI doesn't require a license.  You can use it to connect to any SQL Server instance that has a SQL Backup server component running on it.

    You should be able to use the SQL Backup GUI version 10 and connect to your SQL Server instance running version 7 of the SQL Backup server components without any issues.
