Restoring a database backup to a different database.

I have a database that was backed up and split over 20 files.  I need to restore this backup to another database.  I have created the temporary DB I want to restore the backup to.  I then choose restore and browse for files. When I browse to the first file and add it in I get file unknown and the same happens if I try one or all the other files in the set

    Are the backup files password protected?  If so, you need to enter the password in the area below the list of files, and click on the Decrypt button.
