Updates in SSMS

Hi folks,

I know I'm not the first person to mention this, but since it feels like Redgate like to poke this little nerve of mine every time I open SSMS, I thought I'd repay the favour.

(Picture caption: Update notifications in SSMS are inconsistent. Prompt is nice but SQL Source Control makes me want to bitch about bad UX on Twitter.)

Sorry if it feels like a nag. But imagine how your customers feel.

    We know this is irritating to some users, but a) the update bar is consistent across all of our products that have a main user interface area (Prompt is just special because it doesn't really have a main UI to display it in) and not all of them are in a place that readily supports toast; and b) in some respects it's designed to be annoying so that you actually pay attention to it and update, rather than just ignoring it.

    We're looking into future solutions around quieter updates, but we're not quite there yet.
