I'm new to using Sql Monitor, I just started this job where they already had it configured. We have a server with 2 instances being monitored, but I need to remove one of the instances from the monitor, as I have removed the instance from the server. I cannot find a way to remove the instance from SQL Monitor.

I haven't monitored multiple instances on the same server. But here is a thought. Stop monitoring it all but don't delete the old data. Then re-add it only checking the instance you want to monitor.

I tried that. As soon as I added the server and default instance, the named instance that I removed showed back up on the monitor and started alerting.

as a follow-up... The removed instance finally did disappear. Not sure why or how.

One possible explanation is if there was any data recorded for the instance, even after removing it from the server, it would live on in many views until the underlying data was purged.

I've the same issue: multiple SQL instances but only 1 instance needs to be removed from the RG monitoring.
So basically there is no easy way to remove a single instance? One has to remove the complete server & then add it again?
