SQL Search 3 failing to index after upgrade to SQL Source Control 7.

The symptom is that I get no databases listed after connecting to my server.

In the logs I see a login failure error:

02 Jan 2019 12:27:51.431 [47] ERROR ServerObjectIndexer - Exception while indexing server: 
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Login failed for user 'xxx\chris'.

I rolled back the upgrade to SQL Source Control 6 but no luck. I've tried deleting the existing folders in Users/chris/AppData/ and re-indexing. Didn't help.

The SQL Source Control upgrade could just be coincidental of course. 

Any advice please?

    BTW I logged in to SQL using SQL Server Authentication but the error message is for my domain account.
