Do you know if SQL Clone can clone from a replica database in an availability group?

  we are looking for alternatives for our support databases. At the moment we are backing up the live databases and restoring them onto another server 4 times a day. The process only just finishes before it is time to start again.

  It ultimately depends on how you plan using them.
  
  Clones can be made from availability groups, but clones CANNOT be created into FCIs or availability groups (AG). So if you were taking a clone of your AG environment for use on your developers machines which aren't an FCI or AG then it should work. See https://documentation.red-gate.com/display/CLONE3/Limitations for more on this.
