Could I just ask why you think this might be an issue? Comparing a database to itself (ideally) results in every object as identical to itself.

I can't see any point of comparing a database to the same database. It will be identical anyway.

if you enter by mistake, it will take some time to recognise that you have done a mistake.

Better if you can provide a alert that the user is comparing same database

We have had some people explain a scenario where they use this - they use SQL Compare as a way to browse the schema of a database in a more navigatable way than you can achieve, say, in Management Studio. If you compare the database to itself, then the distractions of how it differs to another data source are removed, so it can be a neat way to explore a schema more easily.

Actually, today I came across with this issue.

I was comapring huge database and by mistake i have select the same database.

Rather than removing tis feature isn't it better to alert the user indicating that he is going to comare same database

I can say that I have used the self comparison option to go through my database in the past. Personally I would not object (call this one indifference to) on save or creation of a project to throw a dialog confirming comparison to self, however throwing that dialog on each comparison run would become quite annoying.

The reason we don't validate against having two identical databases is because some users use SQL Compare as a way to explore a database. I suppose that we could put an unintrusive warning up when this situation arises, but this won't make the cut for v8.0.

    Thanks,
