Is there any advice or suggestions on topics that one could write about?

Hi gbargsley,
For the blog, we're looking for stories based on themes like database DevOps, data privacy or the cloud. Rather than product walkthroughs, it's why companies and organisations should consider adopting database DevOps, or the challenges of data privacy in a world that is ever more regulated, or typical problems businesses face when they migrate from on-premises to the cloud.
Content for the Redgate Hub is based on how to use Redgate tools. Maybe you have a top tip for SQL Prompt, for example, or there's a neat way to introduce SQL Source Control to a development team.
And for Simple Talk, Kathi Kellenberger the editor looks for longer, in-depth technical articles, typically around SQL Server issues. One particular author who springs to mind is Rob Sheldon who regularly writes articles for Simple Talk. Search for his name on Simple Talk and you'll get an idea of the content that's popular.
Hope that's helpful.
Matt Hilbert

But have you thought of contributing to them as well? We’re always keen on publishing new and interesting views and ideas, so if you have something original to say, we’d like to hear from you.
It could be a knowledgeable, in-depth article for Simple Talk about technologies and processes related to SQL Server, development, or the cloud. It might be a product learning piece for the Hub about how you’ve solved a technical challenge with one or more Redgate tools, or a quick tip explaining a smart way to use a Redgate tool or feature.
Or maybe it’s a story about how you’ve helped a client implement a challenging new database project. That’s the kind of thing we like for the Redgate blog as well as the increasing number of external publications like DBTA, Dataversity, and TechWell who like to publish articles from Redgate sources.
Whatever it is, we can help you turn it from a vague idea into a readable piece that will be read by thousands of people, giving you:
We also pay for articles which are published on Simple Talk because we place extra demands on authors, and the articles are generally longer and go into far more detail.
That said, what are you waiting for?
Write for Simple Talk – Simply send an email to editor@simple-talk.com, telling us what you would like to write about, and a little about yourself and your experience.
Write for Redgate Product Learning – drop an email to tony.davis@redgate.com, explaining the topic you’re interested in writing about, and why, and who you consider to be the main target audience.
Write for the Redgate blog or external media – Email matt.hilbert@red-gate.com, telling me some details about your experience and the kind of articles you’d like to write.
And don’t forget to mention when you do contact us that you’re a Friend of Redgate.
We look forward to hearing from you.
