Fully licensed install backups fail as trial period has expired?

Has anyone come across this? In the last few months we have had fully licensed BackupPro 9 installs backups failing with error 667, Trial has expired. We re-renter the license code and it reactivates fine. We're not aware of anyone upgrading the software from version 8 recently, is there any log files we can see why this has happened? Would this happen if someone changed the service account credentials?
