We've just released Figleaf 7.0.17.3290! This release enables the feature flag for "build your own" template masks by default, which allows creating data with a custom pattern in a straightforward manner. It can be downloaded via https://www.red-gate.com/projectfigleaf or through the autoupdate inside the product.

We are not currently in a data masking project, But one will be coming down the pike. In the meantime I'm happy to help beta test using our DBA test shard here at the office.
-
Just tried figleaf - really nice interface and really easy to use. the only problem is that when I went to apply the mask it pointed out that the devs who created the database I've inherited didn't concern themselves with adding primary keys!

Hi Brandon & Ben,
Thanks for your input guys, we'll be in touch with you individually on this in due course.
Kindest regards,
Mick

After that are you saying that FigLeaf requires primary keys to function or just that it helpfully points out the lack of them?
-
yep I think primary keys are required.
sometimes with data compare I run into this problem although in those situations i'm trying to compare rows on a like-for-like basis so I can add a new column and populate it using a hash function or by using a composite key.
i'm guessing for figleaf a simple identity column would be fine??
I think there are profiling tools / scripts out there that will suggest primary keys. may be a nice feature to have in data compare, figleaf and prompt etc one day. -
Hi Ben. We have something in our beta that may actually address your situation. Would you be interested in having a chat with us and trying it out?

We've just released Figleaf 7.0.20.3670! In particular this release fixes a few quality-of-life issues with the column selection scrolling behavior

Is Figleaf safe to mix with other Redgate tools in my demo/test environment?
-
Hi Brian,
Figleaf installs alongside other Redgate tools, and won't impact their operation.
Is there a particular scenario that you are concerned about?
-
Thanks. No specific concern, just always worry about adding pre-release bits to my demo and ev environments.
-
We've just released Figleaf 7.0.32! We've expanded the mask conditions feature in a couple of ways - you can now switch between different mask types based on the conditions (rather than just skipping rows) and we've added a new condition type where you can specify a list of values to match.

Hey @joshcrang, do you have any (even short) release notes?
I'm curious what's new is in this version. -
Hi Kamil, no user visible changes this time. We've made some back-end changes and updated some third-party libraries we use. Everything should work exactly as the previous version, so let us know if you have any problems!

We've been working on the future version of data masking and it is called SQL Figleaf. We're currently in an early stage development and we're looking for anyone who is currently working in an organisation and trying to mask their data.
