How can we help you today? How can we help you today?

what is the relationship between apexSQL and redgate?

Hi redgate - I ran a couple of demo's of sql source control in my company recently.  it was well received but I was asked to check to see if any other vendors were offering a similar product.

Istumbled across ApexSQL and they seem to have a near identical product offering to you guys - even with the same names for the products.

I was just wondering if there is a licensing agreement between the two companies so that one can implement the other's products or anything like that?

ok, have just seen this disclaimer on their website.

"ApexSQL is not affiliated, associated, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with other companies listed or any of their subsidiaries or affiliates"

Apex copy Redgate, build inferior tools, and charge about 10% less.

Redgate ignore Apex. Not worth he hassle.

ah thanks for clearing that up.  I've just seen that they are due to bring out data masker, sql estate manager etc...  very odd.  i'll stay clear as you need to support the people actually innovating.

reminds me of what bill hicks said when Denis Leary stole his whole routine.

"I have a scoop for you.  I stole his act.  I camouflaged it with punchlines, and to really throw people off, I did it before he did.”

Are they really? I'm totally unsurprised.

And I love that quote. I genuinely did just laugh out loud.
