Disassembling and reassembling

So I have a program that I exported to a folder. I see everything there. I open VB 08 and it shows all the files in .vb format.(nice). Now the how do I edit and reassembly the program. When I hit build it is a success and when I debug a blank form appears. If I am to peice all the codes into one? unsure. Any suggestions would be helpful. All i want to do is update my my small .xml program editor.
