A few months ago in
Foundry we started researching sensitive data classification and discovery. The idea was that preparing for an audit/becoming compliant was a task that would be made easier by knowing exactly what sensitive data is held, and where.
The course of our research and conversations quickly landed on database documentation. This got us thinking about what new requirements might be being placed on database documentation (eg. as well as a description of the object, does it also include a rating of how sensitive the data will be?).
Is anyone working on a documentation project at the moment (or recently)? Specifically, we're interested in projects where database documentation is forming part of your organisation's regulatory adherence/reporting?
Are new parts of the organization consuming the information held within this documentation? Do they have the same requirements as "traditional" users of the documentation? What sort of information is now being kept about the data that wasn't previously? Is the nature of documentation changing?
We've got lots of questions (and ideas), but it would be really interesting to hear your thoughts...
