Attempting to Connect ... - Never Does

I am in the process of evaluating this product. I was able to get the monitor to connect to a local instance of SQL Server, but when I attempt to add another server on our network it does not seem to connect. The "Attempting to Connect ..." notification is displayed but it never connects, it just keeps spinning.

Could this be a permission issue on the database server? If so, what access would have to be set in order to connect?

Would it be possible for you to run the following testing data collection method tests from the machine with SQL Monitor to the machine having issues and see if you get any error messages?
