Compare databases with same name

Hello,

I understand the only way to compare database files is by attaching them to sql server.
Since I cannot attach databases with same name, how can I compare 2 different databases from different versions but with same name?
Is there a way comparing database's files without attaching them?

    Yes, there are other ways of comparing Databases in SQL Compare other than having them running on a SQL Server instance:

    - Directly from a Backup File*
    - SQL Compare Snapshot
    - Source Control*
    *Option available in SQL Compare Professional only

    Besides these options you can also compare online Databases running on different SQL Server instances.
