Install fails

HI
I'm trying to install SQL search 2.1 on a Windows 7 Pro 64 PC.
When display the step "Scanning volumes..." it never end.
How can i do?

    I have recently had my physical desktop replaced by a virtual windows xp desktop and am unable to install SQL Search.
    It gets as far as Scanning Volumes and then hangs
