Git binary install needed?

In the documentation I saw that it is possible to use git but git is not listed about among the supported options.
In looking at the 3rd Party Software that's installed with SSC3 and I saw that git is not listed.

If I want to use git can someone confirm I need to install git myself?

    Hello Scott,

    You are correct you would need to install Git and have your repository system setup before using SQL Source Control to link to it.
