How can we help you today? How can we help you today?

First impressions of 1.0 RC

I just installed the new version (Windows 2008 server) and pointed it at a few of our development boxes (2000, 2005, and 2008) and it looks really good. The install went smoothly; the only hiccup was caused by me not adding the service account to the AD group that would give it access to the servers I wanted to monitor. Once I did that, though, a quick restart of the monitoring service and I was off to the races...

The best thing I've seen so far is the links to Red Gate in the recommendation detail -- this will be a great resource for DBAs not familiar with SQL Server (and for those like me who think they know more than they do sometimes!). It might be worth adding the ability for users to comment on the solutions/information like they do on the new MS KB.

Anyway, great work folks and I look forward to exploring the rest of the product!

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for your posting, and for your positive feedback so far on SQL Response.

It's a great idea to encourage comments and feedback from users of SQL Response to incorporate into the information we deliver about the recommendations. Definitely something we'll look into.

In the meantime, if you have any comments on any of the text we've provided, then please post them here, or message me privately.

The idea is that we will continue to develop these resources for DBAs over time, so all suggestions and comments are very welcome. What you're looking at right now is just our first basic attempt to deliver something that may point the DBA in the right direction ...

Best regards, and thanks again for the feedback,
