This may be due to not running ANTS as an administrator.
If you browse to: Program Files/Red Gate/ANTS Performance Profiler 4
and right click over the RedGate.Profiler.UI exe and choose to run as an Administrator it may resolve the issue.
Let me know if it helps,
Stephen -
That was it! Thank you. Got caught out as Visual Studio itself doesn't have to run as Admin on Vista.
Perhaps its worth adding a manifest for that exe if ANTS won't work without being Administrator?
Thanks for your help. -
Glad it worked for you James,
let us know if you hit any other problems.
Feel free to post telling us what you think of the profiler when you have had a chance to use it properly.
Regards,
Stephen

These are the steps I take:
- Click Ants 4 | Profile Performance
- I get a "Could not launch the task to be profiled." error - because it's trying to run it as a Win32 application.
- I click OK, change the application type to ASP.NET web application hosted in web development server. I add a port number that's not already in use, and click "Start Profiling"
- An IE window opens (as an aside - would be nice if I could tell it to use Firefox - Visual Studio does!), and I just get "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page". The Web Dev server also disappears from the task list.
Any ideas?
Thanks
James
