Source Code not being Profiled? and Displayed : Build 351

Hi Guys

Build 351 - Does not show code (still)

I have done another screen cast to clearly demonstrate results of problem. (captured at 1024x768 this time ;) )

http://www.usher.net.au/redgate/08.06.0 ... 3/t003.htm

Notes to accompany video

- about screen to confirm build

- highlite of approx 1 minute of profiling to get source to show
note: there is nothing expect main thread showing

- highlite earlier section of code to demonstrate code exists and can be found

- reselect 'bad' area, this time turning on 'Insignificant Methods'
note: only very basic functions are being shown, non of the code I want to profile

- I then show the application and do a nonsense search, then do a real search
note: the 'finding' of the job should yield profile results
note: the 'switching' of tabs also fires code each time a tab is shifted

- Profiler window reselected, highlite section we have just executed - still nothing

- brief error whilst camtasia winow pops up in wrong place ;)

- switch to Visual Studio 2008 with project loaded,
- open JobSearchControl form
- show what event is being fired
- trace event through calls until method I am expecting to see in profiler is shown

I hope this is of some use to you.

Random thoughts: the search control is a user defined control, does this matter to the profiler ?
(possible red herring) as I would still expect to see other code called when switching tabs

    Thanks,

the issue is to do with the way in which stack traces are summarised in order to prevent unreasonable memory usage by the profiler.

The next build has changed the rules for summarising stack traces and it should work without any issues in future.
